Overview:
The Material Man is responsible for the procurement, receipt, storage, and distribution of materials and equipment needed for rig operations. This role ensures that all materials are available and in good condition to support uninterrupted drilling activities. The Material Man also maintains inventory records and collaborates with other team members to manage logistics and supply chain operations effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Management:
Receive and inspect incoming materials and equipment.
Verify the quality, quantity, and specifications of materials against purchase orders.
Organize and store materials in designated areas to ensure efficient retrieval and safety.
QHSE Responsibilities:
Provide support during emergency situations by quickly sourcing and delivering required materials.
To ensure a safe working environment without harm to persons or the environment.
Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols related to material handling and storage.
Attend safety inspections and report any hazards or incidents.
Participate in safety meetings and training sessions.
Inventory Control:
Maintain accurate inventory records.
Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
Monitor stock levels and reorder materials as needed to prevent shortages (Min-Max Technic).
Equipment Handling:
Arrange transportation and logistics for the movement of materials to and from the rig site.
Manage the documentation for material transfers and shipments.
Ensure that all equipment is properly maintained, calibrated, and certified as required.
Track the usage and maintenance schedule of tools and equipment.
Assist in the setup and dismantling of rig equipment as needed.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of material transactions, receipts, and issues.
Prepare reports on inventory status, material usage, and logistics activities.
Assist in the preparation of purchase requisitions and procurement documentation.
Work closely with rig managers, and other personnel to understand material needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Sufficient understanding in spoken English.
Good clear communication skills
Literate and numerate
Computer literate (Words, Excel, email…etc.)
Preferred : Required training updated
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
Be knowledgeable of all safety policies and procedures.
Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of management.
Physically able to perform the duties required and work as a team member.
Preferred: Understanding of well control activities
