Overview:
To maintain all company-owned and operated mechanical equipment. To understand and implement the usage and maintenance of rig equipment in accordance with maintenance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
QHSE Responsibilities:
Conducts operations in a safe manner according to the policies and procedures.
Observes proper rig operating procedures, noting unsafe practices.
Plays an active part in QHSE meetings, toolbox meetings, and all other company safety management systems.
Is proficient for STOP for employees and uses its techniques.
Is proficient in LOTO and PTW
Trained in gas testing compressed gases.
Operational:
Under direction, operate, maintain and repair prime movers and other engines.
Stand watch in engine room when required.
Under direction, operate, maintain and repair two-stage and four-stage air compressor, heat exchangers and air dryers.
Monitor and repair or replace air regulators and all valves in air system.
Under direction, repair pneumatic pipe hoisting and handling equipment.
Under direction, maintain and repair draw works and associated components, rotary table, rotary transmissions, and associated components.
Familiar with TDS operations, greasing, Oil filling and measuring.
When directed, assist in repair of Elmagco (auxiliary draw works) brake or EDS system.
Under direction, maintain and repair hydraulic drill string torque system (E-Z torque), hydraulic power tongs, wire line hydraulic winch, hydraulic systems - pumps, motors etc.
Under direction, repair swivel, BOP’s and other equipment as may be directed by Rig manager or Chief Mechanic.
Under direction, maintain and repair power end of mud pump, centrifugal pumps in mud circulation and conditioning system and repair mechanical components of mud conditioning equipment.
Service and repair vacuum pumps.
As directed, inspect and service cranes
When directed, assist other departments in equipment maintenance, repair or operation.
Operate, install, maintain and repair additional or temporary mechanical equipment used for special operations.
Service and repair forklift, cranes, trucks, or other vehicles.
Maintain correct operation, maintenance, and repair of fuel system.
Repair camp/accommodation and galley equipment.
Service hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
All mechanical maintenance and repairs to Crane, Forklift, Snork/ Genie lift, and rig Vehicles.
Business Planning / Continuous Improvement / Organization Efficiency:
Maintain records and logs required by Chief Mechanic.
Advise Supervisor of current and/or changing conditions.
Understand and use indexes and reference sources to find information regarding parts, repairs and/or operational procedures.
Identify and respond to abnormal operating conditions and/or patterns of equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Industrial Mechanics Certificate or equivalent or has adequately demonstrated to a supervisor through on the job experience the ability to perform tasks competently and safely as a Mechanic.
Preferred: Sufficient written and spoken English, Numerically competent and 1 years’ minimum experience in the drilling industry.
SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE
Use blueprints and hydraulic, pneumatic, and electric schematics.
Read precision instruments such as micrometers, veneer callipers, bore gauges, and dial indicators.
Use hand tools and any other general shop equipment.
Collate information from assorted sources, such as composite catalogue.
Understand and use indexes and reference sources to find information regarding parts, repairs and/or operational procedures.
Has worked in an overseas multi-national company.
Ability to impact and influence people, by being a good listener and communicator and could handle and manage crews under his responsibility.
Is proactive and proficient in fault finding and problem solving to rig equipment.
